The Console Camera As Cultural Lens
Why are PSPs, DS' and GB Colour cameras everywhere?
Hey everyone! I’m trying out a new, shorter video format today. Something more palatable for your Monday. If you like these shorter stories, you can find plenty over on Drawn Distant’s IG. Enjoy!
The camera roll has become playable.
From Dior shows to Nike cages to football stands, PSPs, Nintendo DSs and Game Boy Cameras are being used less as consoles, more as cultural lenses. Not because they are technically better. Because they are technically worse. The blur, the grain, the pixels, the clunky little flash. It all gives the image a point of view.
In an age where every device is designed to make things look perfect, old gaming cameras make the moment feel stranger, softer and harder to fake.
