The New Pop Music Launch Pad? Gaming
From Soundtrack to Skins
We’re back with a shorter video format to give you a quick download on pop music in gaming. If you’re liking these, then there’s even more over on Drawn Distant’s Instagram. Enjoy!
Pop music in games used to equate to soundtracks and occasionally a self titled game.
Now it equates to everything.
Artists like Billie Eilish, KATSEYE, Zara Larsson, Tyler, The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter and Bruno Mars are using Roblox and Fortnite to launch music, perform, release skins and create digital collectibles.
The strongest gaming x artist collaborations translate the artist’s identity into something fans can play, wear, collect and share.
And the upside can be massive. Bruno Mars issued over 5 million collectibles in Roblox during his concert on Steal A Brainrot. Sabrina Carpenter appeared in over 6 million matches where every member on the team has a Sabrina Carpenter skin equipped.
We’ve come a long way from artist published games like 50 Cent’s “Bulletproof” or Brittney Spears’ “Dance Beat”. But those places will still hold a place in my heart regardless!
